I simply get too many questions so I created this "pay for your answers" forum. I was recieving about 40-50 personal emails a day and that is just too much for me to deal with. I figure if you are serious about wanting to know the answer to something that you cannot find elsewhere or you don't have the time to research yourself then this may be the system for you. If you know someone else that has the answer or you have the time to research the questions yourself then don't join.

I will attempt to answer every question you ask in a courteous and timely manner all for only $20 a year. That's only a $1.66 a month! I have been wrenching on my race Miata for over 10 years and have a wealth of tried and proven experience. You'll probably recoup the cost alone just from the time and money you'll save from not buying parts that don't work well in a Miata or time saved reinstalling parts.

Most of my experience is around 1990-2000 normally aspirated modifications and engine and drivetrain internals but I also can intelligently answer questions about turbo and supercharger applications and 2001+ Miata's as well. Please, no questions about non-Miata's such as Festiva's, 626's, Ford Probe's, B2000's, Mercury Capri's, etc.

Typical questions I have answered:

  • What is the best exhaust diameter?
  • How do I cure engine overheating?
  • What other engines can fit in a Miata?
  • How much HP can I get out of a 1.6?
  • Who makes the best swaybars?
  • Who makes the lightest wheels?
  • How do I install solid lifters in a 1.6?
  • At what HP level do I need a stronger fuel pump?
  • What aftermarket cams are the best for a Miata?
  • what rods, pistons and valve springs from other makes are cheap performance upgrades?
  • Is installing larger fuel injectors going to give me more power?
  • How do I install a 1.8 rear in my 1.6 Miata?
  • What alternative gear ratio's can be installed?
  • Who makes clutches for a Miata?

In some cases the questions cannot be answered simply or with a simple yes or no. In those cases I may give my opinion, which you may find others disagree with. I will note those answers with "IMO" so you'll know up front. Some of the questions I may be hesitent to answer such as opinions of Miata vendors and I will say so in the reply. I prefer not to answer diagnostic questions since it is just too hard to diagnose something remotely ("it makes this click click sound??"). I'll answer questions and try and point you in the right direction but I just can't spend time sourcing specific parts (i.e. who sells Mazdaspeed cams for the least in South America?), it will be up to you to find a vendor that sells parts.

To join Conexion simply Paypal $20 to solomiata@aol.com with "Conexion" in the Description. I will track who has paid, how many questions I have answered for you and when the expiration date is up. I will answer every question honestly and to the best of my ability. If I don't know the answer I may very well say "I don't know but I will research it for you". Your $20 is even guaranteed. If after 10 questions you feel that I did not answer satisfactorily I will refund the $20 back to your paypal account (minus paypal fee's currently at 3%). I reserve the right to cancel membership rights if you directly quote or forward my replies in a public forum.
